TheAzureAI.com ("we", "us") is an independent practice-quiz site for Azure AI certification exams. It isn't affiliated with Microsoft. This page explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

What we store

  • Accounts (optional). If you sign up: your email address, display name and a salted, hashed password (we never store the password itself), plus security data such as failed sign-in counts and lockout times. You can play without an account.
  • Quiz attempts. The name you enter, the exam, your answers, score and timestamps. If you're signed in, attempts are linked to your account so you can see your progress. The leaderboard shows the player name and score of finished attempts.
  • Issue reports. When you use "Report an issue": the category and comment, the question and attempt, your account if signed in, your browser's user-agent string and a hashed version of your IP address (a keyed HMAC, used only to limit abuse). We don't store the raw IP address with reports.
  • Password resets. A hashed, single-use, time-limited token, and the IP address the request came from, to prevent abuse.
  • Server logs. Our host may keep standard web-server logs (such as IP address, time, page requested and browser type) for security and troubleshooting.

We use this data only to run the site: to sign you in, keep scores, show progress and the leaderboard, fix questions and keep the site secure. We don't sell it.

Cookies and local storage

  • .TheAzureAI.Auth: keeps you signed in (only if you sign in; up to 14 days).
  • .TheAzureAI.Af: security cookie that protects forms against cross-site request forgery.
  • Your browser's local storage keeps your theme choice, the last player name you used and your in-progress quiz, so you can resume. This stays on your device.

These are needed for the site to work. Advertising cookies are described below.

Advertising (Google Ad Manager and AdSense)

We use Google Ad Manager, together with Google AdSense, to show ads, which pays for the site. Ads appear only in the explanation panel after you answer a quiz question, and may change when you answer the next question. (Ads are not currently switched on.)

  • Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this site or other websites.
  • Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to this site and/or other sites on the Internet.
  • You can opt out of personalized advertising in Google's Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at www.aboutads.info.
  • If you're in the European Economic Area, the UK or Switzerland, Google's consent message asks for your choice before personalized ads are used. If you don't consent, Google may still show non-personalized or limited ads, which use cookies only for things like frequency capping, fraud prevention and aggregated reporting.
  • To learn how Google uses data, see How Google uses information from sites or apps that use our services.

We don't show ads anywhere else: not while you're answering, and not on the home, results, leaderboard, account or admin pages.

Analytics (Google Analytics)

To understand which pages and questions are useful, we may use Google Analytics 4. It uses cookies or similar technologies to collect pseudonymous usage data such as pages viewed, approximate location (country/region), device and browser type. We also send a few events: that a quiz was started (exam code), that a question was answered (question number, topic and whether it was correct), quiz completion (score percentage and pass/fail), sign-up and log-in, and that an issue was reported (its category). We never send your name, email address, the text of your answers or your comments, and we don't send a user ID. Page addresses are sent without query strings, and quiz attempt IDs are removed. Admin and password pages are never tracked.

In the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics and advertising storage stay off until you make a choice in Google's consent message (Consent Mode). You can also opt out with the Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. See how Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services.

How long we keep data

Account data is kept while your account exists. Quiz attempts and issue reports are kept to run the leaderboard, show progress and improve questions. Password-reset tokens expire quickly and are only used once.

Your choices

You can play without an account. To access, correct or delete your account data, or ask any privacy question, email us at contact@theazureai.com. We'll respond within a reasonable time.

Children

The site is meant for people studying for professional certifications and isn't directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country).

Changes

We'll update this page if our practices change, and change the date at the top.
